Autopsy: Cumberland music teacher stabbed to death

A music teacher at a private Cumberland County school who was found dead in his yard a year ago had been stabbed to death, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday.

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A music teacher at a private Cumberland County school who was found dead in his yard a year ago had been stabbed to death, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday.

Marcus DeShawn Allen, 28, was stabbed 20 times in the head, neck, torso and arms, according to the report. The wounds severed an artery, punctured a lung and fractured his skull, leading to a brain hemorrhage.

Allen was found lying in the front yard of his Spring Lake home on Jan. 12, 2020.
He taught music at Cornerstone Baptist Church and Christian Academy in Fayetteville and even wrote a song, "I'll Be Your Light,” that became an anthem for the school.

No arrests have been made in the case, and investigators have released few details.
