Authorities: Subject of Silver Alert committed suicide

WEST END, N.C. — A Moore County man who was the subject of a Silver Alert was found dead Friday morning of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert on Thursday for Elijah Alexander Smith, 74, who went missing from Lucas road in Seven Lakes.
Searchers found Smith's body in a wooded area across from Taylor Memorial Church, on Hoffman Road in Aberdeen, authorities said.
