FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Among the few vehicles on the road on a wet Sunday in Fayetteville was a white Ford F-150 that matched the description of a truck seen leaving the scene of a shooting last Wednesday on Spur Drive.

When police stopped the truck, they identified the driver, 21-year-old Markez Jaquan Mcgriff, as matching the description of the shooting suspect, and they called in homicide detectives from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office who had jurisdiction over that shooting.

The sheriff's office took Mcgriff into custody, charging him with murder and attempted murder. He is suspected of shooting and killing Thailia Christina Thomas, 26, and her unborn child and of shooting Inda Davis, 33, at 2929 Spur Drive in the Buckhead Farm neighborhood.

A third woman inside the home at the time wasn't injured.

Deputies said Thomas met Mcgriff on a dating website and let him in through a monitored, 24-hour access security gate in the moments before her death.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
