KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — The State Highway Patrol asked Friday for the public's help to find a car involved in a hit-and-run late Thursday.

A pedestrian was hit shortly after 10:30 p.m. on the ramp from Smithfield Road to the U.S. Highway 64 West Bypass. He was listed in critical condition at WakeMed.

A witness told authorities that a green, older-model Honda passenger vehicle was directly behind him on the ramp when he noticed the Honda swerve to the right onto the shoulder. The Honda hit a man walking west on the shoulder of the ramp, stopped momentarily and then continued west on the U.S. 64 Bypass, according to the witness.

Authorities said the Honda is missing its front bumper and headlights and likely will have heavy front-end damage.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Raleigh State Highway Patrol Communication Center at 919-733-3861 or the Raleigh Troop C District State Highway Patrol office at 919-733-4400.
