Authorities seek driver in fatal Carthage hit-and-run

The State Highway Patrol on Monday asked for the public's help in finding the driver in a fatal hit-and-run in Moore County.

CARTHAGE, N.C. — The State Highway Patrol on Monday asked for the public's help in finding the driver in a fatal hit-and-run in Moore County.

Matthew Tyler Phillips, 24, of Archdale, was killed shortly before midnight Friday when he was hit by a vehicle while lying in the roadway near 482 Putnam Church Road in Carthage, authorities said. The vehicle's driver left the scene after hitting Phillips.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call the Troop H Highway Patrol Communications Center at 800-572-8765 or the Moore County Highway Patrol office at 910-944-3629.
