Authorities search home, car of man found in freezer

Family members of a Raleigh man who might have been dead inside his home for nearly two years say they had been searching long before investigators found his body this month.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities search the home and car of a man found dead inside his freezer on Ray Road in Wake County earlier this month and collected furniture, clothing and paperwork, according to warrants returned Friday.

The brother of David Ruben Green Jr., 52, reported him missing on Sept. 1, but told police he had not seen him for more than a year.

According to search warrants, investigators estimate Green might have been dead since January 2009.

A Wake County sheriff’s investigator looking into his disappearance of  discovered his decapitated body Oct. 6 in a freezer in the basement of his home.

“Our attempts to locate David Jr. started well before filing a missing persons report,” brother Avery Green said. “It has been a long and arduous journey that ended with the authorities discovering his remains in his home.”

His longtime girlfriend and mother of his two children, Wendy Edmond Green, 41, faces charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Their two children, David Ruben Green III, 15, and Alexis Green, 17, face the same charges.
