ZEBULON, N.C. — A vehicle was found submerged in Bunn Lake, near Zebulon, Sunday morning.

Rafeal Abila, 25, was driving a four-door 1996 Chrysler sedan down Hagwood Road toward N.C. Highway 39 when he hit an embankment and then a fence, before going into lake at about 2:30 a.m., the state Highway Patrol said.

Abila was able to safely get out of the vehicle but did not call authorities. He did make contact with his brother and said he was OK, authorities said.

Troopers say his vehicle was traveling approximately 90 mph when the crash happened. There was no one else in the vehicle.

It took crews over four hours to get the vehicle out of the lake. Troopers said they are trying to locate Abila and that he could face a charge of careless and reckless driving.
