Authorities investigating after body found near pond on Fort Bragg property

Authorities said Wednesday that the body of the unidentified black male was found on Fire Break 12, which is located on the eastern side of Fort Bragg near McArthur Road.

Sky 5 video from the scene appeared to show a body that was stuck in the ice in a wooded area. Multiple patrol cars were visible at the scene.

Authorities said in a written statement that the victim, who did not have any identification on him, was believed to be a civilian and not a member of the Armed Services. Authorities did not publicly disclose any other details about the case, saying they wanted to "protect the integrity of the death investigation."
