MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — A Clinton man was charged late Sunday with felony maiming after part of another man's ear was bitten off in an argument, authorities said Monday.

David Bryant Turner, 25, was staying on a shrimp boat docked off Radio Island and got into an argument Sunday with the 63-year-old owner of the boat, said Capt. Jason Wank of the Carteret County Sheriff's Office. The lower part of one of the older man's ears was bitten off in the ensuing scuffle, Wank said.

The boat owner was taken to Carteret General Hospital for treatment.

Turner was being held Monday in the Carteret County Jail under a $25,000 bond.
