Man charged in connection with double shooting

A 54-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with a double shooting in Vance County, authorities said.

HENDERSON, N.C. — A 54-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with a double shooting in Vance County, authorities said.

According to deputies, Bryant Keith Coleman, of 501 Daniel Boone Trail, shot his neighbor, Bryan Matthew Allen, 35, of 493 Daniel Boone Trail in the shoulder at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. While authorities were investigating, a second shot was heard, and deputies learned that Melvin Wayne Kinton, 62, of 580 Daniel Boone Trail, had also been shot. Both men were shot while in their homes, investigators said.

Coleman was arrested and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling inflicting serious bodily injury.

Coleman was being held in the Vance County Detention Center under a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 16.

Both Coleman and Kinton were taken to local hospitals where they were treated for injuries.
