FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Hoke County man held his boss at gunpoint Monday, demanding to be paid for his work, Cumberland County authorities said.

Robert Lockamy, the owner of Extreme Green Nursery and Landscape, on Gillespie Street near Fayetteville, told deputies that one of his employees, Joshua Caleb Hunt, didn't show up for work Friday and hadn't picked up his paycheck. Lockamy said Hunt went into the office Monday and yelled at him before pulling out a handgun and firing a shot into the floor to the left of Lockamy.

Hunt demanded Lockamy pay him in cash for his week's work, Lockamy told investigators. When he told Hunt that he didn't have cash and had already signed Hunt's paycheck, Hunt forced him at gunpoint to a truck outside to retrieve the check, Lockamy told investigators.

Hunt, 18, was charged with discharging a firearm to cause fear and second-degree kidnapping. He was released on a $20,000 unsecured bond.
