Man arrested after 20 guns, drugs found in home
CATAWBA, N.C. — A North Carolina man was arrested after authorities found drugs and weapons in his home, including a gun disguised to resemble a toy.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Hickory Police Department and the Newton Police Department searched the home after learning about drugs possibly being there and securing a search warrant.

Investigators seized cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana. Investigators also seized 20 firearms, with pistols, rifles and shotguns among them.

The Catawba County Sheriff's Office said one gun, a Glock model 19 pistol with a 50-round drum magazine, was altered to look like a Nerf toy gun. The sheriff's office noted guns like these are particularly concerning to them, even though they aren't illegal to own. The gun was painted in a blue and orange color scheme.

Damien Alonzo Burch was arrested and charged with felonious possession of cocaine, felonious possession of mushrooms and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Burch, 35, is a Catawba resident.

“[It's] another success resulting from our area Narcotics Teams working together," Catawba County Sheriff Don Brown said. "Our agencies pooling their resources allows for a greater impact to be felt county wide.”
