SANFORD, N.C. — An 80-year-old Sanford woman was found dead in her home Sunday night, authorities said.

Lee County deputies were called to 143 Polly Lane shortly before 8 p.m. after a relative found Norma Smith Brown dead in the home, authorities said.

Investigators are treating the case as a homicide.

Lee County authorities asked for the public's help to determine who abandoned a car outside a Sanford day care on March 3, 2019. The car belonged to a woman who was found dead in her home that night.

Brown's 2010 Nissan Rogue was found abandoned Sunday night outside the Shooting Stars Day Care, at 152 Charlotte Ave. Authorities have offered a reward for information about who left it there.

Anyone with information about Brown's death is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 919-775-5531 or the sheriff's office tip line 919-718-4477.
