FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Medical examiners have been unable to determine whether a Fayetteville man's death in January was a homicide or not, according to an investigative report released Friday.

Josephus Davis, 63, was found dead in his home at 576 Braxton Blvd. on Jan. 28.

The report states Davis died of blunt-force trauma to his chest and head, but the medical examiner noted that Fayetteville police didn't find a bloody object that might have been a murder weapon.

Davis' roommate told police that the two had been drinking the previous night but that he didn't hear any signs of a struggle after that, according to the report.

Family members have said they believe Davis was killed by someone he knew.
