Attempted Murder Suspect Mistakenly Released
A man charged with attempted murder was mistakenly released from the Nash County Jail on Friday morning but was later apprehended, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedTerrence Lavern Andrews, 41, was released because he had completed a 30-day sentence for a probation violation. A jail officer didn't see that Edgecombe County authorities had placed a hold on Andrews because he is charged in that county with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins said.
Andrews was released at about 8:15 a.m. After the mistake was discovered, authorities took him back into custody at a friend's house at about 10:30 a.m., Jenkins said. Andrews offered no resistance and was taken to Edgecombe County, he said.
Jenkins declined to identify the jail officer or say if the person faces any disciplinary action.
