WAKEFIELD — An attempt to steal an automated-teller machine from a bank branch in Wakefield in the early hours of Thursday morning did not get far.

Police responded to an alarm call at the Bank of America at 14500 New Falls of the Neuse around 4:45 a.m.

Officers found that someone managed to rip an ATM off its foundation at the Bank of America. The ATM was dragged across the parking lot to the other side of the bank, but abandoned there and left laying on its side.

At the scene, police also found a forklift that had been stolen from a nearby construction site and a pick-up truck that had been reported stolen from Wake Forest.

Police said they have no suspects at this point.
