RALEIGH, N.C. — I just wanted to give a shout out to the people responsible for putting a couple of water bottle filling stations at the N.C. State Fair this year.

New for 2018, one station sits across from Casey's Clubhouse in Kiddieland. Another is in the grassy area, under the trees, between Kiddieland and the Scott Building.

Call me cheap, but I hate buying individual bottles of water. And call me a germophobe, but I hate filling up water bottles in water fountains. For me, these are a welcome addition.

And, just a reminder, you can bring food and drinks with you in small bags. So if your trip to the fair will be a frugal one, just pack your own meals and snacks - and fill your water bottle up at these new filling stations.

The fair runs through Oct. 21 in Raleigh.
