ASHEBORO, N.C. — Moore County sheriff's investigators announced Friday that they arrested a 30-year-old Asheboro woman and charged her with the second-degree kidnapping and statutory rape of a 15-year-old boy.

Lori Dawn Thompson, of 1439 Aycock St., was being held in the Moore County Detention Center on a $105,000 bond.

The teen's grandfather called the sheriff's office on Oct. 14 and said his grandson had run away with a 30-year-old woman, according to investigators.

Sheriff's officials said they found Thompson and the teen sleeping in a vehicle on Oct. 25 in Asheboro. They also determined that the pair had been sexually active, according to the sheriff's office.

Thompson's first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 2 in Moore County District Court.
