A 62-year-old man from Asheboro died in a car accident on Interstate 85 in Efland on Thursday morning.

<b>EFLAND, N.C.</b> — A 62-year-old man from Asheboro died in a car accident on Interstate 85 in Efland.

Around 1 a.m. Thursday, the vehicle ran off the road, hit a sign and became airborne, the Highway Patrol said.

According to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office, a school resource officer discovered the body of a man inside a vehicle at Hobbton Middle School athletic field. Authorities believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
