Asbestos no danger at Halifax hospital

A renovation project uncovered some asbestos at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A renovation project uncovered some asbestos at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

No patients or staff were ever in danger. Some outpatients were moved further from the former cardiology department where the construction is taking place.

A cleanup company was been brought in and hospital administrators expect they'll finish work by the end of the week.
