RALEIGH, N.C. — Big changes are coming to North Hills in Raleigh.

Kane Realty says three more buildings are going up in the area, which is already popular to live, work and play.

The Walter Tower will have hotel rooms and apartments. Its designs show 33 stories — matching the tallest building in downtown Raleigh, PNC.

Tower 4, currently an unnamed office building, will be 20 stories tall.

A mid-rise building named Vine is going to have 325 apartment units.

As North Hills develops, some people are worried about congestion.

“It’s a great location — convenience to the Beltline,” Bruce Oliver said. “But you can only stand so much traffic, and it’s going to drive people away from the stores there, if they can’t get in and out.”

Some of the buildings will have parking decks to alleviate congestion from street parking.

The City of Raleigh is doing a Six Forks Road corridor study to see how widening the road could help.
