As Christmas nears, so do deadlines for holiday shipping, mailing

Christmas is about a week and some change away, which means the deadlines to mail or ship those presents so they arrive on Dec. 25 is even closer.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Christmas is about a week and some change away, which means the deadlines to mail or ship those presents so they arrive by Dec. 25 is even closer.

Some retailers, like Amazon, Target and Best Buy, are offering free shipping with no minimum purchase provided the items are purchased by a certain day.

Our Smart Shopper has compiled a list of some of the major retailers with special offers on shipping for the holiday season.

But the U.S. postal service, Amazon and FedEx have their own deadlines that gift-givers need to be aware of. NOTE: Bad weather can impact those shipping deadlines so adjust your plans accordingly.

U.S. Postal Service:

Dec. 14: Final day to ship via USPS Retail Ground
Dec. 20: Final day for first-Class Mail Service and Priority Mail Service
Dec. 22: Final day for Priority Mail Express Service

FedEx:

Dec. 17: Last Day for Ground and FedEx Home Delivery
Dec. 19: Last day to ship via FedEx Express Saver
Dec. 20: Last day to ship via FedEx 2Day A.M. and FedEx 2Day
Dec .21: Last day to ship FedEx Standard Overnight, Priority Overnight and First Overnight
Dec. 22: Last day for FedEx Home Delivery shipments
Dec. 25: Last day for SameDay delivery with $50 fee
