A GROUP OF FLORAL DESIGNERS, HOBBYISTS, AND PROFESSIONALS HAVE TO DRAW A PIECE OF ART OUT OF A HAT WITH NO IDEA WHAT IT WILL BE, AND THEN YOU CREATE THIS PIECE THAT REFLECTS THE ART. >> I STARTED WITH ART AT THE VERY BEGINNING. I LOVE TO CREATE DESIGNS, AND I'M ALWAYS EXCITED BY THE DIFFERENT PAINTINGS I CAN GET AND WHAT I CAN DO OR SCULPTURES, SO IT'S BEEN EXCITING EVERY YEAR TO SEE WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET. I LOVE THE SHAPES, AND YOU KIND OF GO OFF THE SHAPE AND THEME AND COLOR. >> I LOVE THE TEXTURES. I AM SUCH A TEXTURE PERSON, AND SO OFTEN, MY DESIGNS FEATURE LAYERS AND LAYERS AND LAYERS OF TEXTURES. MY PIECE IS "DAPHNE." IT IS A MARVEL BUST OF THE MYTHICAL WATER NYMPH, DAPHNE. I WAS THINKING HOW COOL IT WOULD BE IF I CREATED ALMOST LIKE A RELIEF OF THE BUST IN THIS FLORAL CHICKEN WIRE AS SHE DISSOLVES INTO THE GROUND. I WAS ABLE TO FIND SOME REALLY COOL DRY MATERIALS THAT WILL NOT DETERIORATE TOO QUICKLY. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL HANGING ERA MAN, AND I LOVE THIS BECAUSE, AGAIN, IT'S THAT GREAT MARBLE TEXTURE. YOU CAN SEE HOW, YOU KNOW, NATURE IS CLIMBING UP INTO HER AS SHE IS DISSOLVING INTO IT. REALLY, A REFLECTION OF HARRIET'S MEDIUM THERE. >> WHEN I LOOKED AT MY PAINTING, I DECIDED I WAS GOING TO USE CARNATIONS AND ROSES BECAUSE I WANTED THINGS TO LOOK REALLY CLEAN. THE VIRGIN MOTHER, SHE WEARS THIS BEAUTIFUL TEAL VEIL, SO I DECIDED I WOULD LOVE TO MAKE THE SHAPE OF THE VEIL OUT OF WOOD BECAUSE THERE'S A LOT OF WOOD ALSO IN THE PAINTING. I GOT BIRCH BRANCHES, THEN SEWED THEM TOGETHER, AND IT MADE HER FORM OR HER SHAPE. I REALLY LOVE THE DARK PINK, HOW IT REALLY GIVES A BIG SPLASH, AND THAT REPRESENTS HER AND HER DRESS. AND THEN THE WHITE, IT REPRESENTS THE CHILD, BABY JESUS. I DO A LOT OF ORANGE FOR JOHN THE BAPTIST, ORANGE CARNATIONS, ALL THE ORANGE ROSES. THESE ARE ORANGE GERBER'S. I'M GOING TO DO THE BOTTOM OF THIS. I'M GOING TO MAKE A SHAPE AND MAKE IT LOOK LIKE FABRIC, AND WE'LL DO A FEW OF THOSE GOING UP ON THE SIDES TO HIDE MY WET FOAM. IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE HER VEIL. THE MUSEUM ITSELF IS INCREDIBLE, AND THEN THE WAY THEY PRESENT IT IS BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE YOU CAN LOOK AT A PIECE OF ART, AND YOU LOOK TO THE LEFT OF YOU AND SEE THE FLOWERS THAT THEY MADE. YOU JUST USE YOUR IMAGINATION, AND IT WOWS YOU. >> IT'S PROBABLY ONE OF THOSE EVENTS THAT CROSSES CULTURAL, AGE, INTEREST LEVELS. PEOPLE INTERESTED IN ART, PEOPLE INTERESTED FOR FLOWERS, PEOPLE LOOKING FOR COOL ACTIVITY. IT IS ONE OF THE FEW THINGS AROUND.
