SMITHFIELD, N.C. — The Sheriff's Office said an act of arson caused an overnight fire Friday at a mobile home in Johnston County.
Firefighters responding to calls on N.C. Highway 210 found the porch of a mobile home on fire. The actual home was not damaged by the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The scene was cleared by 5 a.m.
Deputies said they arrested a man in connection with the suspected arson. They declined to release his name or any details about the investigation.
