Arson suspected in BB&T fire

Fire investigators suspect that arson caused a blaze at a BB&T bank branch of Duraleigh Road Monday morning.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Fire investigators suspect that arson caused a blaze at a BB&T bank branch of Duraleigh Road Monday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to investigate an odor at the bank at 3000 Duraleigh Road at 8:14 a.m. Instead, they found a fire.

Fifteen firefighters brought the blaze under control by 8:30 a.m. Only 1 percent of the building sustained damage.

Investigators listed an incendiary agent as the cause of the fire.

The investigation has been taken up by Raleigh police, the State Bureau of Investigation, federal Arms, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau and City-County Identification Bureau.
