Arrests made in Clayton parking lot shooting

CLAYTON, N.C. — Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in a Clayton parking lot last week, police said Friday. 

Jaquetta Tyleisha Lewis, 19, of Bolton, was sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot near U.S. Highway 70 on Sept. 30 when she was shot with a handgun, police said. The other occupants of the car drove her to the hospital. 

Jason Tamar Smith, 20, and Dashyquate Lashay Holder, 17, both of 552 N. Church St. in Clayton, were located and arrested in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Thursday. 

Smith is charged with felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into an occupied property causing serious injury and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

Holder is charged with one count of accessory after the fact to a felony. 

Both remain in Myrtle Beach pending extradition to Johnston County. 

Smith had been listed as an absconder from probation by the state Department of Correction. He was given probation for a larceny conviction in June.
