Arrest warrant issued related to NC woman's death in Cabo, Mexican news outlets say

Mexican authorities have issued an arrest warrant related to the death of 25-year-old Shanquella Robinson, according to multiple Mexican news outlets.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mexican authorities have issued an arrest warrant related to the death of 25-year-old Shanquella Robinson, according to multiple Mexican news outlets.

NBCS Noticias, Diario El Independiente and MetropoliMx all cited Baja California Sur Attorney General Daniel de la Rosa as the source, saying the extradition process has already started, according to WCNC.

Multiple attempts by a doctor to revive Robinson were unsuccessful before she was pronounced dead in Mexico, a police report shared by the MetropoliMx news outlet states.

The FBI's Charlotte field office opened an investigation into her death after a video posted online showed Robinson being attacked by one of the friends she traveled to Mexico with.

Robinson, from Charlotte, was found dead in her hotel room while vacationing with friends in Cabo San Lucas last month.

Bernard Robinson said he and his wife were told Shanquella died of alcohol poisoning, but the autopsy said she died due to injuries to the spinal cord and neck.

No one has been charged with any crime in connection with the case.
