Arrest, search in Sanford yields 2+ pounds of cocaine, worth $200K

Two Sanford men and one from Georgia were arrested Saturday on drug charges, and in the course of the investigation, narcotics officers with the Lee County Sheriff's Office found 1,120 grams - or almost 2.5 pounds of cocaine.

SANFORD, N.C. — Two Sanford men and one from Georgia were arrested Saturday on drug charges, and in the course of the investigation, narcotics officers with the Lee County Sheriff's Office found 1,120 grams – or almost 2.5 pounds of cocaine. 

Narbel Garcia Sanchez, 35, and Jamie Rojas Mendoza, 46, both of 421 Goldsboro Ave. in Sanford, face a single charge apiece of conspiracy to traffic cocaine.

Braelee Santana, 26, of 3815 Smith Creek Court in Buford, Georgia, faces the same charge along with one for trafficking cocaine by transportation, for trafficking cocaine by possession, for trafficking cocaine by delivery, for maintaining a motor vehicle for the purpose of storing and selling illegal controlled substance, for carrying a concealed firearm, and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Santana was being held at the Lee County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond. Bond for Sanchez and Mendoza was set at $50,000 each, secured.

Investigators estimated the value of the cocaine at $200,000.
