Arrest made in Mebane fatal shooting
Mebane police have charged a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old Hillsborough man early Sunday.
Posted — UpdatedAt approximately 1:54 a.m., police responded to a shooting report in the area of Clay and Fourth streets.
Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by several occupants of a black Lexus. Demarray Laray Andrews, of 570 Homemont Ave., was found with a gunshot wound in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle, police said.
Paramedics transported Andrews to Alamance Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Mebane police on Sunday evening arrested and charged Lemario Deon Wade, 28, of 3611 Mill Creek Road in Efland, with first-degree murder, discharging a weapon into occupied property and possession of a stolen firearm.
Wade was being held Sunday in the Alamance County jail without bond. His first court appearance is set for Monday.
Meanwhile, Andrews' body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
