Arrest made after woman's body found along Rocky Mount street

The body of a woman was found Wednesday morning along a Rocky Mount street, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The body of a woman was found Wednesday morning along a Rocky Mount street, police said.

Officers responded to a call about something suspicious in the 900 block of Greyson Road at about 9:45 a.m. and found the body of Angela Bunn Nelms, 49, on the shoulder of the road, police said.

Nelms was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, police arrested James Cole Butler, 22, in the case and charged him with first-degree murder. He was being held without bond in the Nash County jail.

Police haven't disclosed how Nelms died, a possible motive for the crime and what led them to Butler.
