Arrest made after man found dead inside crashed car in Goldsboro

A man has been arrested after someone was found dead inside a car on the morning of Sept. 30, according to police.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A man has been arrested after someone was found dead inside a car on the morning of Sept. 30, according to police.

Around 4 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the 300 block of S. Leslie Street after a report that shots were fired. On the way there, they found a car that had crashed into a home on East Walnut Street.

The driver, Dashaunti Lavarious Waters, 28, was inside. Police said he died of apparent gunshot injuries.

On Friday, Donovan Wooten was arrested in connection with Waters' murder.

Wooten, 34, was placed into the Wayne County Jail without bond. He has a court appearance scheduled for Monday, Oct. 25.
