Police in Fayetteville are hoping someone will recognize an armed, masked man who robbed a Fayetteville bank in broad daylight on Monday afternoon.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police in Fayetteville are hoping someone will recognize an armed, masked man who robbed a Fayetteville bank in broad daylight on Monday afternoon.

Around 12:30 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the First Citizens Bank on Broadfoot Avenue.

Police say a man wearing a white face mask and armed with a rifle entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. The suspect fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a black male with a medium build who stands about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a white plastic mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants at the time of the robbery.

Detectives are sharing images from the bank's surveillance system in hopes that someone can help identify the man.
