Law enforcement capture 'armed and dangerous' man wanted for Lumberton murder

A man considered "armed and dangerous" who was wanted in the shooting death of a 64-year-old was taken into custody on Sunday night.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — A man considered "armed and dangerous" who was wanted in the shooting death of a 64-year-old was taken into custody on Sunday night.

Officials found Tracy Worriax dead inside a home on Troy Drive in Lumberton on Friday around 8 p.m.

Law enforcement were looking for Demarreon McDaniel, 28, of Rowland, in connection to the shooting. McDaniel was wanted for first-degree murder and larceny of a motor vehicle.

Search for Robeson County murder suspect

On Sunday morning, officials said McDaniel's 2013 Chevy Impala was found in Dillon County, South Carolina.

McDaniel was then taken into custody at a home a few miles outside Rowland, North Carolina, around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Dillon County Sheriff's Office and Rowland Police Department helped with the investigation.
