Single-engine plane crashes in Cumberland County

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a single-engine plane crashed Sunday in Cumberland County.

Authorities said pilot Clarence Symond and passenger Joseph Nunnery were aboard the aircraft when it crashed around 10 a.m. after taking off from Eastover Air Ranch in Fayetteville.

Symond and Nunnery were transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. Symond was listed in good condition Sunday evening and Nunnery was in serious condition.

More details, including the cause of the crash, haven't been released.
