Car backs into train in Durham

A man backed his car into an Amtrak train in Durham on Thursday, police said.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Ellis Road and Angier Avenue just before 6 p.m.

Police said the man had already cleared the guard rails but thought the arms were going to hit his car, so he backed up into the train.

No one was hurt, police said.

The car sustained about $1,000 worth of damage.
