The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing swimmer near the Surf City pier, authorities said Monday.
Surf City Fire and Rescue crews saw a swimmer struggling in the water about 200 yards from the pier on Saturday. They lost sight of the person and called the Coast Guard for help at about 8 p.m.

Crews from the Coast Guard, Marines, and Surf City Fire and Rescue searched Saturday night for the missing swimmer, but were unable to find anyone, authorities said. The search was suspended after boat and aircraft searches at first light Sunday morning.
There were no reports of any missing persons, authorities said.
