Apex child injured while sledding

Apex police said a girl injured herself while sledding Saturday in the Haddon Hall subdivision.

The girl, whom police did not identify, was sledding with friends when she struck the pole supporting a basketball backboard near 1101 Haywards Heath Lane.

She suffered a bump on the head, but was conscious and alert when she was taken to WakeMed, police said.
