The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will test its emergency sirens on Tuesday between noon and 1 p.m.
People outdoors on or near the campus may hear an alert tone followed by a public address message. After the test, and "all clear" message will be broadcast.

The Alert Carolina system includes the sirens, which are designated for use in emergency situations such as an armed and dangerous person on or near campus, a major chemical spill or hazard, or a tornado sighting.
