Man charged with statutory rape

A 21-year-old Raleigh man has been charged with committing statutory rape with a 14-year-old child.

The arrest warrant says that James Wesley Meeks Jr., of 4428 James Road, committed the offense Saturday and was arrested later that day.

Meeks was being held in the Wake County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday.
