A mother and son traveling home to Wilmington were in a SUV when it flipped onto its side along Interstate 40 East in Johnston County early Monday.
State troopers said the driver was fiddling with a CD player when the SUV ran into the median near Exit 315 onto Cornwallis Road around 2 a.m. He jerked the wheel back, and the SUV flipped onto its side.

Troopers said both mother and son were taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital and were expected to be OK.
