State and local law enforcement will be conducting checkpoints this holiday season to try to get impaired drivers off the roads.
The state's "Booze It and Lose It!" campaign runs through Jan. 4.
During the same period last year, 165 North Carolina drivers were involved in deadly traffic crashes. Nearly one-third of those were alcohol-related.
