Friday's warmth to be replaced by clouds, cooler temps

Friday’s warm temperatures, which could reach the upper 70s to 80s, could be a record high for the Triangle area.

The highest temperature recorded on this date at Raleigh-Durham International Airport was 76 degrees in 2005.

The warm period will come to an end Saturday as a cold front crosses the area around lunchtime.

Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers, mainly in the morning. The sunshine will break through the clouds as the day progresses. Highs will be in the upper 60s.

Sunday and Monday will be sunny and noticeably cooler.
