Four blocks of business and residential buildings along Sunset Avenue in Rocky Mount were evacuated Tuesday after a gas line broke.
Megan Hanks, city public affairs manager, said electric crews were working in the area when a gas line was hit around 1 p.m.
The leak was capped just before 4:30 p.m.
