Troopers: Drunk driver hit pedestrian

State Troopers say a drunk driver hit a pedestrian in Wake County early Wednesday. The pedestrian was in critical condition.

Connie Sue King, 43, of Knightdale, struck a man near Moore’s Creek Drive as she drove west on Poole Road, authorities said. She had two passengers with her.

Richard Caldwell, 38, stepped into the roadway, authorities said. Troopers said they suspect he also had alcohol in his system.

Authorities charged King with DWI and held her in the Wake County Jail.
