A Clinton man was arrested Wednesday – more than 42 years after escaping from a Maryland prison, authorities said.
Willie Carroll Parker was serving a 40-year sentence after being convicted of three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon when he escaped in August 1965, authorities said.

Parker traveled throughout the country and used several aliases in an attempt to avoid capture, and he eventually settled in Sampson County and started a new life, authorities said.
U.S. marshals and the Maryland State Police continued to investigate the case and arrested Parker Wednesday afternoon in a bedroom of his home at 9943 Garland Highway in Clinton.
