One dead, another hospitalized after SUV and box-truck crash shuts down NC Highway 210 near Harnett County

One person was killed, and another was hospitalized Monday night following a crash on NC Highway 210 near Harnett County.

The nearly head-on collision involved an SUV and a box truck.

The SUV driver died at the scene, while the box truck driver was taken to a trauma center for treatment.

NC-210 remained closed for several hours after the crash.

A local resident said, "There are wrecks here all the time," and expressed hope that lowering the speed limit could improve safety.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
