A gas leak closed a busy stretch of Western Boulevard in Raleigh on Friday afternoon.

Western is closed near Blue Ridge Road while Dominion Energy crews work to secure the leak. Dominion Energy representatives said some people had to leave their homes and some nearby businesses were evacuated.

There are no known injuries from the leak. The leak was causing problems for drivers trying to exit I-440.

There is no timetable for when the road will reopen.
