Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz is making another trip to North Carolina as the presidential race continues to heat up in North Carolina.
Walz, who has served as Minnesota's governor since 2019, will be in Asheville on Tuesday as part of a series of visits that day in Georgia and North Carolina as the Kamala Harris campaign tries to lure voters away from Republican Donald Trump in battleground states.

The two major presidential campaigns are expected to focus nearly all of their time, money and attention on battleground states like North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada. Election Day is Nov. 5.
A Democratic presidential nominee hasn't won North Carolina since 2008 when Barack Obama was elected for his first term. In an effort to reverse the trend, Walz and Harris have made frequent stops in North Carolina. Harris rallied twice in Greensboro, including at the Greensboro Coliseum last week.
Walz’s latest planned visit comes as Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance is making a series of stops in the state. Vance, a U.S. senator from Ohio, was in Greenville on Friday for a private fundraiser and was expected to attend the East Carolina-Appalachian State football game on Saturday. He is scheduled to speak in Raleigh on Wednesday. Trump, the former president, will hold a rally in Wilmington on Saturday, Sept. 21. Trump was most recently in North Carolina when he came to Charlotte on Sept. 6.
“The energy and momentum in North Carolina to make America great again couldn't be clearer,” the Trump campaign said in a statement Friday, pointing to a Washington Post article that said Trump is polling better in the Tar Heel State than he did at this point in 2016 or 2020.
In a WRAL News poll released Sept. 9, Harris had a slight edge over Trump in the neck-and-neck race for North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes.
