Deputies arrest, charge convicted felon with murdering Lee County man

Gilbert Delano Stone — Stone, 54, was arrested Tuesday by the Lee County Sheriff's Office and charged with murdering a 27-year-old man and owning a gun as a convicted felon.

Lee County deputies on Tuesday arrested a man and charged him with murder.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call regarding an unresponsive man who was shot on Blackberry Lane in Sanford. When they arrived, they identified the man as 27-year-old Henry Stone.

Sheriff Brian Estes said deputies arrested 54-year-old Gilbert Delano Stone of Sanford and charged with him with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Stone was placed in the Lee County Jail under no bond. This investigation is still ongoing. At this time, it is unclear if the victim and suspect are related.
