Durham County deputies Friday arrested a wanted man who escaped an arrest earlier in the week.
According to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. Sunday on Wolf Laurel Court in Rougemont related to a “disturbance.”

Deputies said a caller told them one of the people involved was 47-year-old Larry Dwaine Davis of Roxboro. Davis, according to deputies, was a convicted felon wanted on multiple warrants.
The caller told deputies that Davis was armed with a gun. When they arrived, deputies saw Davis with a gun as he tried to leave the home in his car.
Deputies said Davis crashed his car, but ran into the woods and got away. Deputies recovered a .22-caliber rifle from the car.
The Sheriff’s Office said they discovered information regarding Davis’ location on Friday and arrested him at University Drive in connection to Sunday’s events and various open warrants.
Deputies took Davis to the Durham County Detention Center and charged him with the following crimes:
- Assault with a deadly weapon
- Kidnapping
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle
- Larceny of a firearm
- Assault on a female (2 counts)
- Communicating threats
- Resisting a public officer
Davis remains in jail under no bond. His first court appearance is on Monday.
